Artist Background: For more than thirty years Stephen has been teaching, volunteering, and articulating his love for art. This would include teaching Graphic Design Digital Pre Press (a nationally recognized program) at the Southern California Regional Occupational Center that assists students to continue their art education, develop their own businesses in the art world, and/or apply their art to various other entities throughout the South Bay. Within the community, he has also fulfilled this desire to promote art by accepting the role of the Torrance Fine Art Commissioner showing support for the arts and to encourage other artists to develop their artistic expression. He also served as a board member of the Torrance Art Council. All the while, Stephen has continued to actively work on his drawing and paintings.

Artist Statement: Born and raised in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains, Stephen D. West came to an appreciation for fine art at an early age. This driving force behind Stephen West's artistic creations is the love for the outdoors where wonderful forms and ever-changing color challenge his mediums on canvas and feelings toward his subjects. He has a keen ability to capture a snapshot of a scene within nature that takes the viewer to a heightened experience of artistic involvement.
